BEHIND AND POSITIONED FOR FAVOR

IAnd a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched Mark 5

The Word of God explicitly tells us that the woman with the issue of blood came from behind. For 12 years she had endured the affliction of bleeding. She spent all she had on doctors trying to get her healing but she was not healed. When she heard that Jesus was coming, she knew that all she had to do was touch the hem of his garment to get her healing.

No one likes being behind. We all want to be in the front. The front is often associated with success and a sense of accomplishment. People who sit at the back are said to be delinquents and the class clowns. However, is it not them that sat at the back that shock us the most as life progresses? Is it not them who succeed and conquer?

Being behind is not a disadvantage. Being behind is not a weakness. We can be positioned in the back just as much as we can be positioned in front. The back foot is a place of advantage. A place of learning and observation. You can observe the way of the ones in front of you. See their strengths and weaknesses. See the blind spots that they miss. While you learn, you prepare. Slowly, you map out the path you will take to get to the front.

The woman with the issue of blood knew what she would get when she got to the front. No one saw her coming. No one would have even imagined that she would dare touch a high priest in her time of menses. It was something that was frowned upon. But she kept her eye on Jesus and pressed through the crowd, determined in her heart and mind to get her healing.

Lessons we can take from the woman:

1.DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT  – career, family, etc. Have a vision of where you want to go. Habbakuk 2:2 clearly instructs us to write down the vision. Visions are pictures from God for He is the one that places the desires in our hearts if we are aligned to His will.
2. STUDY YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND THE PEOPLE IN THE FRONT– this could be people in the work place, at school or people you admire. What are their habits? How did they get to where they are?
3. MAP YOUR WAY– write the steps you with take to get there. Be practical and realistic. Be honest with yourself and your capabilities. Where you lack, be determined to learn
4. MOVE – take intentional steps toward your goal
5. CEASE THE MOMENT – take the chance and be prepared for when the spotlight is on you knowing that you have put in the work. When asked who touched me, the woman boldly replied that it was her.
6.ENJOY – when you get there. You have worked hard to attain it. You have earned it. When she received her healing, she walked as a daughter of the Most High who had received what she has desired for a long time.

No one sees the person coming from the back. More often than not, they are not taken seriously and they are not seen as a threat. However, when their moment arrives, they are felt. Jesus did not know who touched Him in the throngs of people surrounding Him. Yet, He felt power leave from Him. I don’t doubt that there were other people touching Him trying to get his attention. He was not moved by them. Nothing happened when they touched Him. Something happened when this woman touched Him. She knew what the end goal was. She knew what she wanted and was able to pull it and stand out from among the crowd. If you feel like you are at the back, you aren’t. You are positioned for favor!

God Bless you!
