“Do you want to be made well?” He asked.
I remember the first time I experienced the pain of rejection in my life. I was thirteen years of age and at the time I had no clear understanding of what it was and what it meant. It had been a few months after my mother had gone to be with the Lord and life was somewhat trying to get back to normal. I was in boarding school and all I could feel was how detached from everything I had become because there had been a deep void left in the wake of her passing. I subconsciously then carried on within me the need to try and feed this deep hunger for the emptiness I felt inside and more so often, the people from whom I expected to receive this sense of ease and comfort were the same people from whom I felt neglected by. When we search for love from others but are only met with rejection for so long, its easy to fall into the trap of living life in survival mode as a means of self–soothing. From a psychological point of view, its our intellect’s prerogative to shield us from any ‘harmful’ stimuli. I didn’t realize, however, how me trying to protect myself so much from any extending hand of influence had inherently invited a rather sinister guest who goes by the name of Arrogance. See, arrogance says, “Who do you think you are?” Arrogance makes us believe we can do bad (or good Hehe) all on our own but for healing to be a reality in our lives, there’s so much we have to shift into perspective.
The story of the man who was healed at the pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-15) rings true in my life on so many levels. Arrogance or any other thing/hurt we’ve given power over, could have easily said, “Listen, I’ve been at this place for x number of years. I have lived this long with it, I’ve tried and failed to reach it, I’ll do just fine on my own.” I have come to appreciate how God is such a gentleman in that He doesn’t force us to do something we do not willingly step into obedience at our own disposition to partner with Him for. Every day we are presented with the choice to choose. The man at the pool had to CHOOSE to obey in order to receive the healing that he was already predestined to receive.
Remember, it’s the enemy’s goal to see many lives living in captivity. Imagine the Israelites traveling to the promised land for years over a journey that should have taken them days. We are the conduits of the manifestation of God’s glory here on earth. Step into the glory of God’s power available at your disposal knowing that greater is He who is in you.
So, friend, just as Jesus asked the man at the pool, “Do you want to be made well?”
God is not oblivious to our infirmities. Nothing ever strikes him by surprise. Jesus saw that man and knew everything there was to know about him, without even asking him. The things we go through are an opportunity for the glory of God to be made manifest on the earth. God is patient with us as He continues, daily, to create opportunities for us to encounter Him beyond what we know. The circumstances that have brought us where we are, the burdens we’ve had to shoulder outside of our own volition or the limitations we’ve placed on our own minds may be valid and by no means would I want to downplay the impact they’ve had on our lives but I would like to put it out there that the longer we carry these burdens, maybe even idolize them, we allow these things to become strongholds and limiting beliefs that hinder the move of God and keep us from experiencing the fullness of God in our lives today. God already has it figured out and He sees the end from the beginning. All He asks is that you step into faith and trust that He is who He says He is. There are so many spiritual blessings available to the children of God. Faith is the currency of Heaven to being able to unlock some of these blessings. A spirit of unbelief chokes us out of operating at our full capacity and receiving all we need to live fully for the Kingdom of Heaven. Delayed obedience is very much still disobedience

We are the conduits of the manifestation of God’s glory here on earth. Step into the glory of God’s power available at your disposal knowing that greater is He who is in you. Refuse to be idle. Refuse to live a bondage. Wake up sleeper!!! A breakthrough awaits you in the spirit. Pick up your mat and walk!
