The older and wiser we get, the more burdensome this question feels, especially to the believer who has walked with Christ for a while. A child of God who holds the evidence of His love and saving grace with testimonies that would make even iron bloom and the scent of spring permeate even the most arid of lands. The guilt and shame one often carries in their heart while feeling the need to maintain an outward appearance of righteous living is one of the most dangerous positions one can find oneself in.
How fortunate are we then, to know that God’s love isn’t based on your perfection, but on His character. He is love and not only that, He loved us first. (1 John 4:19). Before we were, He loved us. Before the cross, He loved us.
GOD’S LOVE IS STEADFAST AND UNCONDITIONAL.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future… nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”-Romans 8:38–39
This truth applies to any of us: a truth that transcends time and circumstance, or the family you were born into. Considering the God of Psalm 139:13-18 who formed you with such delicate and intricate intentionality, it only makes sense that He would not let you go.
GOD’S LOVE MEETS US IN OUR WEAKNESS.
“As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.”-Psalm 103:13–14
God doesn’t expect you to have it all together. He knows your frame – He knows your limitations and still calls you His beloved. In 2 Corinthians 12:10, Paul illustrates how He is our strength. When we reach the end of ourselves, He is still faithful.
YOU WERE CREATED IN LOVE AND WITH PURPOSE.
“Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they were all written. The days fashioned for me. When, as yet, there were none of them.”-Psalm 139: 16
When reading through Psalm 139:13-18, you will learn that nothing about you is hidden from Him, and there is nowhere to hide from the love of God, as echoed in the New Testament in Romans 8:38-39. This is your invitation to meditate on these scriptures. God made the provision of the cross before we were formed because He loved us. Each of us was created with intent and utmost care, bearing in mind that our presence is not a mere act of populating the earth, but all are born with a divine assignment.
BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE WHO “MESSED UP” YET WERE DEEPLY LOVED:
- Peter denied Jesus three times—and yet Jesus chose him as the rock on which His church would be built. (Matthew 16:18).
- Aaron built a golden calf at the Israelites’ beckoning, and yet God did not remove his anointing or give his assignment to another, nor did he visit the sin on his sons. Contrary to expectations, he was appointed to a position of great responsibility and honour. (Exodus 28)
GOD’S LOVE HELPS YOU GROW, NOT SHAME YOU.
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”-Philippians 1:6
God is patient with your process. You don’t have to have it figured out. He’s working with you, step by step.
God’s love doesn’t waver when you fall short it meets you there. He loves you at your worst, walks with you through your confusion, and grows you in His grace. There are days when we fall short when our words, thoughts, or choices don’t line up with who we want to be. We replay the moment in our minds and wonder, “Would God still want me like this?”
In these moments, we should remember that God is our creator, not our peer or earthly Father. The broken promises, the failed attempts at mending relations and the very real and traumatic experiences experienced at the hands of the ones we trust the most unknowingly and without any permission or nod to be let in tend to seep deep into the psychological and emotional crevices of our very beings, which in turn influences our perception of God.
But today and every other day call us to Himself. He is both willing and capable of embracing and healing you as you are. God’s love doesn’t fade when you fail. His love isn’t conditional or fragile. It doesn’t depend on your ability to get it right every time. It’s anchored in who He is, not what you do. And this is a truth that has endured through the ages.
Like Aaron, who was invited back to relationship and purpose, God meets you in your low moments with mercy, not shame. His love doesn’t erase your humanity; it transforms it.
So when you stumble, remember you can always fall into grace. God’s arms are open. He’s not finished with you.
TODAY,I LEAVE YOU WITH THESE REFLECTIONS
- What situations make me feel unworthy of God’s love?
- How has God shown me love or grace even when I thought I didn’t deserve it?
- And what does the bible say about God’s love for me?

This is insightful. Such a beautiful read.
Out of everything beautifully written there, the part that really spoke to me is “God is patient with your process. You don’t have to have it figured out. He’s working with you step by step.” As sometimes you see how other people have it all figured out at young ages and things just work out for them so nicely and they have everything planned out and don’t really have to do much and then you find yourself who is trying so hard but you feel like you’re stagnant and you don’t feel worthy of anything… Just knowing that through it all God still loves you and sees you no matter how many times you fall or how many times you stray from his word, that unconditional love still prevails. It’s truly something beautiful.
