As children of God, we all have this burning desire within us to stay safe in God’s arms. However, it is easier said than done. We reside in an area of busyness, meaning that our lives revolve around our academics, careers, businesses, and everything that is happening around us. This is an indication of us neglecting our spiritual stamina and personal walk with God. Apart from that, this should signify the reason why it is important to stay under the protection of God.
Psalm 91:1 states that he who dwells under the Secret Place of the Most High shall remain under the shadow of the Almighty. This verse serves as a reminder of why we should be in His presence at all times, no matter how hard it is. Honestly speaking, it is not a delightful journey to embark on. Yet, it is vital that we must preserve and maintain our relationship with our Creator, and have that level of intimacy with Him. Revelation 3:20 is a constant reminder of being intimate, pouting out, and opening up about about our struggles, challenges, insecurities, fears, egos, sins, blessings, and everything else that is going on to Him. I know that it might be way too much and difficult to do that. Nonetheless, it is beautiful this way than keeping it all bottled inside. It is the process of being vulnerable and revealing it all to God.
Without wasting any more time, let me write about the protection of God and why we should remain there. The term “protection” refers to a state of being safe from harm, damage, or harm. Biblical protection, on the other hand, is all about allowing God to keep you safe and sound from the claws of the evil. Imagine being under His safety haven every single day of our lives, even when the enemy is attempting to bring harm on your way, what a heavenly privilege. Yet, nowadays, it does not seem to be this way. Sadly, in my generation, what I noticed is that I’m witnessing the vivid and illustrious picture of the end times slowly come to life, and this completely breaks my heart. This is the reason we must ask God to cover us with the hedge of protection around us, and we do this to not only safeguard us, but allowing Him to use us, serve and keep on doing and honoring the will, plans, and promises He has created for us.
Allowing God’s will and plans to take place in our lives is also another characteristic of God’s persistent protection upon us. We can make all the plans in the world, but God has the final say on what happens.
Staying and being safeguarded by God means fleeing away from sin and temptation. By achieving this, it is all about keeping ourselves pure, even as imperfect as we are. With the increasing amount of sinning that is taking place, it is best if we keep ourselves armed. Ephesians 6:10-18 reminds us to put on the full armor of God at all times, for we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but against principalities and dark powers. It is also a warning to us as Christians who are actively partaking in sin. The book of Romans tells us that if we are carnally-minded, we are spiritually dead, but if we are spiritually minded, we are spiritually alive. We must not play with the grace that God has given us. It is not a plaything that we can go and play with. It is an element of God’s favor and mercy upon our Iives.
When we are under God’s divine protection, our prayer lives are also activated and working on fire for Him. Prayer is a form of communication to God. It’s like having a conversation with your friend, busy telling him or her about everything that’s going on in your live. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 says that we should pray without ceasing. We cast our burdens and anxieties to Him, for He cares about us. But when we don’t do that, our prayer lives become dead, and we don’t want that to happen. Trust me, I know what I’m talking about. So, let’s talk to God about it. It can be anything, develop that form of communication with Him. Believe me, you’ll never go wrong.
Allowing God’s will and plans to take place in our lives is also another characteristic of God’s persistent protection upon us. We can make all the plans in the world, but God has the final say on what happens. It can be scary at times. However, we should not be afraid, for God did not create us to have a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind, according to 2 Timothy 1:7. When God states that He knows the plans He has for us, He means business. Although there will be moments and situations when everything is not going the way it should, it simply means that God is working it out for our own good. It indicates that the rejection and “no’s” we get, is actually a redirection done by God to shape us into the people we are meant to be. A lot of times, we get disappointed by the ones we love, or disappoint those we love. It leaves a bitter and gloomy taste in our mouths. Yet, this is why we should depend on God, and not on ourselves, or those around us.
We must try the Lord with all our hearts and not lean on our own knowledge. Only He has the power, and that same power He has given us is the one that is within us. God’s protection is the best. Not easy, but so worth it. Let us rest on the promises of God, knowing that He is able. We must work out our faith with trembling and fear, knowing that He is holding our hand through it all.
